Fragilariopsis reginae-jahniae

Forms ribbon-shaped colonies where there is no interspace between adjacent cells. The cells are linear in girdle view. Each cell contains two diagonally placed chloroplasts near the girdle. The valves are elliptical to linear depending on length of the valves, and with a slight indention in the middle. Valves have an eccentric raphe with a central nodule, the raphe running along the bend between valve and mantle and approximately same number of striae and fibulae.
