Description

Basionym Coscinodiscus bioculatus Grunow 1884

Synonym Thalassiosira bioculata (Grunow) Ostenfeld 1903

Tall cells in girdle view, pervalvar axis up to twice the diameter of the valva. Flat or slightly curved valva with fasciculate structure. Labiate process located close to the central strutted process. Marginal strutted processes with long internal tubes visible in LM. 

Morphometrics: Valva 20-60 µm, pervalvar axis 30-120 µm. Marginal processes 5-7 µm apart. 

Distribution: Northern Norwegian coast, Barents Sea, Arctic Ocean
