Description

Cells are boat-shaped with a central raphe and central nodulus dividing the raphe into two parts. The cells are colonial and occur as stacks with valves facing each other, but not attaching closely.

Two plate-like chloroplasts each with a pyrenoid.

Size; 13-65 µm long (apical axis), 4-5 µm wide (transapical axis).

Distribution; Arctic and northern Norway
