Pterosperma vanhoeffenii

The species alter between a phycoma stage with a wall of polygonal ala and motile nano-sized flagellates covered in organic scales. The tall equatorial ala are hyaline and divided into a few polygonal fields. Many yellow-green chloroplasts.

Distribution; Norwegian coast and Barents Sea.
